11Verification and the cashier, without the jargon

Most readers will be asked for a PAN, an address proof and a bank account match. The pages below cover what each platform actually checks, and why.

Reader questions

What readers ask about KYC and the cashier

Q01Why is my withdrawal still pending after 24 hours?

The most common reasons are: KYC is still being reviewed, the withdrawal is your first (some platforms add a manual check on the first withdrawal), or the bank is slow on the receiving end. Contact support with the transaction ID before assuming the worst.

Q02Can I use a friend's bank account for withdrawal?

No. Most platforms will only withdraw to an account in your name that matches the KYC documents. The penny-drop check exists to enforce this rule.

Q03What is a playthrough condition?

It is the number of times you must wager a bonus before it can be withdrawn. A 3x playthrough on a 100-rupee bonus means 300 rupees of wagers before the bonus becomes withdrawable. Read the bonus terms before depositing.

Q04Is a PAN mandatory?

For most platforms, yes. Winnings above a threshold require TDS, and the PAN is the tax identifier. If you do not have a PAN, the platform will block withdrawals above the threshold.

Reading the safety surface

What a platform's safety page actually tells the reader

Most platforms publish a safety page. The safety page is not a marketing page; the safety page is a contract. A reader who reads the safety page before depositing is a reader who knows what they have agreed to.

Five lines that should be on every safety page

The first line a reader should look for is the licence line. The licence line states which state regulator or central authority the platform answers to, and the licence line states the licence number. A platform that hides the licence number is a platform the reader should not deposit with.

The second line is the responsible-play line. The responsible-play line describes the deposit cap, the time-out, the self-exclusion, and the link to the responsible-play page. A platform that does not have a responsible-play line on the safety page is a platform that has not finished its responsible-play work.

The third line is the contact line. The contact line lists a working email, a working phone, and a working chat. A reader who tests the contact line on a weekday morning is a reader who will know if the contact line is real before they need it. The contact line is the cheapest safety test a reader can run.

The fourth line is the grievance line. The grievance line names a person, an officer, and a turnaround time. The grievance line is the line the reader goes to when the contact line has not answered. The grievance line is the line most readers never need, and the reader who needs the grievance line once will be glad the line was on the safety page.

The fifth line is the withdrawal timeline. The withdrawal timeline lists the methods, the realistic timelines, and the conditions under which a manual review is triggered. A platform that lists the withdrawal timeline is a platform that has measured its own cashier. A platform that hides the timeline is a platform that does not want the reader to compare the timeline.

What the reader should walk away with

The reader who reads the safety page before depositing is the reader who has done the cheapest safety check in the cashier. The reader who has done the cheapest safety check is the reader who is not surprised by a slow state, a name mismatch, or a bonus playthrough. The safety page is a contract, and the reader who treats the safety page as a contract is the reader who reads the rummy field with a calm eye.

When to escalate

Three signals that mean the reader should pause the session

A short note on the three signals the reader should treat as a pause-the-session signal, because the cashier and the responsible-play controls are designed for the reader who can pause.

The withdrawal is older than 48 hours

The first signal is a withdrawal older than 48 hours without an explanation. A withdrawal older than 48 hours is not a normal state, and a withdrawal older than 48 hours is a signal that the cashier is reviewing the withdrawal for a reason the reader does not yet know. The reader who sees a withdrawal older than 48 hours should open the support chat, ask for the transaction ID, and ask for the review reason. The reader should not deposit more money until the reason is clear.

The bonus playthrough is not visible

The second signal is a bonus playthrough the reader cannot see. A bonus playthrough the reader cannot see is a bonus the reader cannot plan for, and a bonus the reader cannot plan for is a bonus the reader should not have accepted. The reader who sees a bonus playthrough they cannot see in the bonus terms should pause, contact support, and ask for the playthrough in writing. The reader who accepts the bonus anyway is the reader who will be surprised at the withdrawal queue.

The KYC is being re-requested

The third signal is a KYC re-request after the KYC was already complete. A KYC re-request is normal on a new device, on a new bank account, and on a withdrawal above a threshold. A KYC re-request on a normal session, with the same device and the same bank, is a signal that the platform has flagged the reader's account for a reason. The reader who sees a KYC re-request on a normal session should pause the session, contact support, and confirm the reason before continuing.

The three signals are not a guarantee. They are the cheapest three signals the reader can act on, and the reader who acts on the three signals is the reader who treats the cashier as a tool the reader understands.

A next read

Verification is one floor. Boundaries are the next.

The responsible play room covers deposit caps, time-outs, self-exclusion, and what to do when the session has gone past where you meant to stop.

The cashier and the reader

What the reader should do before the first deposit

A short read on the cashier as a reader's tool, because the cashier is a tool, and the tool should be understood before it is used.

Set the deposit cap first

The first thing the reader should do in the cashier is set the deposit cap. The cap is a hard wall, not a soft warning, and the cap is the difference between a session that ends in a budget and a session that ends in a full-count loss spiral. The reader who sets the cap first is the reader who has decided in advance.

Read the bonus page second

The second thing the reader should do in the cashier is read the bonus page. The bonus page lists the current bonuses, the playthrough conditions, and the expiry dates. The reader who reads the bonus page before depositing is the reader who understands the bonus, and the reader who understands the bonus is the reader who can decide whether the bonus is worth the playthrough.

A second walk-through

Reading the cashier state machine again, with a different eye

A short note on the state machine, because the state machine is the part of the cashier the reader should know before they deposit.

The states, in order

The cashier has six states, and the states are the same across the platforms the desk has read. The first state is "logged in, KYC pending"; the second is "KYC complete, first deposit"; the third is "requesting withdrawal"; the fourth is "withdrawal pending review"; the fifth is "withdrawal rejected"; the sixth is "bonus balance locked". Each state has a clear next step, and each state has a clear time-to-next-state.

What the state machine tells the reader

The state machine tells the reader where they are, what they should do next, and how long the next state should take. A reader who knows the state machine is a reader who is not surprised by a slow state, and a reader who is not surprised by a slow state is a reader who can make a calm decision.

What the desk suggests

The desk suggests that the reader read the state machine before the first deposit. The desk suggests this because the state machine is the part of the cashier the reader will see, and the state machine is the part of the cashier the reader should understand before the first deposit.

A short glossary

Five terms, defined in one line each

A small reference, because the safety pages use the terms throughout, and the reader who is reading the safety pages for the first time may want a quick check.

PAN. Permanent Account Number, issued by the Income Tax Department. The tax identifier required for winnings above the TDS threshold.

Aadhaar. The 12-digit unique identity number issued by the UIDAI. The identity document used in KYC.

Penny drop. A one-rupee credit to the bank account, used to confirm the account is in the reader's name.

UPI. Unified Payments Interface, the real-time payment system. UPI withdrawals usually settle inside 30 minutes.

IMPS. Immediate Payment Service, the second-fastest withdrawal method. IMPS withdrawals usually settle i

A quick reference

The reading desk, on a single card

A short reference card for the reader who wants the format comparison at a glance, with the three measures the desk uses across every format and every review.

frumzi reading desk

The reading room is a single, direct read for adult rummy players. Three measures on every review (lobby and table finding, cashier and verification, responsible-play controls). Five format notes (points, pool, deals, 13-card, 201). Three strategy disciplines (pure sequence first, track the open joker, drop when the math is wrong). Two lines that exist outside any platform (the Government of India helpline, the iCare Centre). One play action, in the header, in the mobile drawer, in the mobile sticky bar. The reading desk is the part of the publication the reader can use to read the rummy field with a calm eye.
