Why we do not publish refer codes

Refer-a-friend codes are a marketing tool, and a marketing tool is not editorial. frumzi is an editorial publication; we read the rummy field and we publish what we read. A refer code is the kind of thing a marketing page publishes, and a marketing page is not what this site is.

A refer code also changes the reader's incentive. The reader who uses a refer code is the reader who is being marketed to, and the reader who is being marketed to is not the reader who is making an informed decision. frumzi is for the reader who wants to make an informed decision.

What we publish instead

We publish a single, direct play action. The play action is a link to the platform's own page, with a single, clear action: PLAY NOW. The link is a first-party affiliate route, and the link is the only commercial action on this site.

The link is the same on every page, and the link does not change based on the reader, the time of day, or the page the reader is on. The link is the link.

What the reader should know

The reader who has reached this page is probably looking for a refer code. There is no refer code to find. The play action above is the link, and the link is the only commercial action on this site.

The reader who wants a refer code is the reader who should know that a refer code is a marketing tool, and a marketing tool is not a recommendation. The reader who wants a recommendation is the reader who should read the usability shelf.

What to read next

The usability shelf is the same three measures for every platform: lobby and table finding, cashier and verification, and responsible-play controls. The shelf is not a ranking, and the shelf is not a refer code. The shelf is a reader's guide.

A next read

The usability shelf is a reader guide

The shelf is the same three measures for every platform, with notes on what is fast, what is opaque, and what requires support intervention.

What a refer code is

The mechanic, briefly explained

A short read on the refer code mechanic, because the reader who understands the mechanic understands the marketing.

The mechanic, in one paragraph

A refer code is a code that the platform gives to an existing player, and the existing player shares the code with a new player. When the new player registers with the code, both the existing player and the new player receive a small bonus (usually a cash credit or a free entry). The mechanic is a marketing tool, and the mechanic is the platform's way of converting a reader into a depositor.

Why the mechanic is marketing

The mechanic is marketing because the bonus is a one-time credit, not a permanent feature. The new player who deposits with a refer code receives the bonus once, and the new player who deposits without a refer code does not. The mechanic helps convert the new player into a depositor, and the mechanic helps convert the existing player into a referrer.

The refer code and the bonus

What the platform actually offers, in plain language

A short read on the bonus side of a refer code, because the bonus is the part of the mechanic the platform markets.

What the new player gets

The new player who registers with a refer code usually receives a small cash credit (50 to 200 rupees, depending on the platform) or a free entry into a contest. The credit is credited to the player's account after the first deposit, and the credit has a playthrough condition in most cases.

What the existing player gets

The existing player who shared the code usually receives a small cash credit (50 to 200 rupees) or a free entry into a contest, credited to the existing player's account after the new player makes the first deposit. The credit is a one-time reward, and the credit has a playthrough condition in most cases.

What the reader should know

The reader who is considering a refer code should read the bonus page in the cashier before registering. The bonus page lists the current offer, the playthrough condition, and the expiry date. The reader who reads the bonus page is the reader who understands the bonus, and the reader who understands the bonus is the reader who can decide whether the bonus is worth the deposit.

A short list

Five things to check before using a refer code, in one paragraph each

A short list, because the list is the part of the refer code the reader can use.

Check 01: the bonus amount

The reader should check the bonus amount the refer code offers. The bonus is usually 50 to 200 rupees, and the bonus is the part of the refer code the reader can read in the platform's "Refer a friend" section.

Check 02: the playthrough

The reader should check the playthrough condition. The bonus usually has a 1x to 3x playthrough, and the playthrough is the part of the refer code the reader can read in the bonus page.

Check 03: the expiry

The reader should check the expiry date. The bonus usually has a 7-day to 30-day expiry, and the expiry is the part of the refer code the reader can read in the bonus page.

Check 04: the eligible games

The reader should check the eligible games. The bonus may be limited to specific games (e.g. points rummy only), and the eligible games are the part of the refer code the reader can read in the bonus page.

Check 05: the eligible deposit methods

The reader should check the eligible deposit methods. The bonus may be limited to specific deposit methods (e.g. UPI only), and the eligible methods are the part of the refer code the reader can read in the bonus page.

A quick reference

The reading desk, on a single card

A short reference card for the reader who wants the format comparison at a glance, with the three measures the desk uses across every format and every review.

frumzi reading desk

The reading room is a single, direct read for adult rummy players. Three measures on every review (lobby and table finding, cashier and verification, responsible-play controls). Five format notes (points, pool, deals, 13-card, 201). Three strategy disciplines (pure sequence first, track the open joker, drop when the math is wrong). Two lines that exist outside any platform (the Government of India helpline, the iCare Centre). One play action, in the header, in the mobile drawer, in the mobile sticky bar. The reading desk is the part of the publication the reader can use to read the rummy field with a calm eye.

A reference

Marketing vs editorial, in one paragraph

A refer code is a marketing tool, and a marketing tool is not editorial. frumzi is an editorial publication; the desk reads the rummy field and publishes what the desk has read. The play action on this site is a single, direct link, and the link is the same on every page. The reference photograph on this page is the desk's way of holding the line between marketing and editorial.

What the reader should do instead, in one paragraph

The reader who wants a recommendation should read the usability shelf. The shelf is the same three measures for every platform: lobby and table finding, cashier and verification, responsible-play controls. The shelf is not a ranking, the shelf is not a refer code, and the shelf is not a bonus page. The shelf is a reader's guide, and the guide is the part of the publication the reader can use to choose a platform with a calm eye.

A short list

Five reasons the desk does not publish refer codes, in one paragraph each

A short list, because the list is the part of the publication the reader can use to verify the desk.

Reason 01: marketing is not editorial

A refer code is a marketing tool, and a marketing tool is not editorial. The desk reads the rummy field and publishes what the desk has read. The desk does not publish marketing material, and the desk does not publish refer codes, because publishing marketing material is not what an editorial publication does.

Reason 02: the reader's incentive changes

A refer code changes the reader's incentive. The reader who uses a refer code is the reader who is being marketed to, and the reader who is being marketed to is not the reader who is making an informed decision. The desk writes for the reader who is making an informed decision, and the informed decision is the part of the publication the desk holds itself to.

Reason 03: the bonus is a one-time credit

The bonus is a one-time credit, not a permanent feature. The reader who deposits with a refer code receives the bonus once, and the reader who deposits without a refer code does not. The bonus helps convert the reader into a depositor, and the conversion is the part of the marketing the desk declines to publish.

Reason 04: the bonus has a playthrough

The bonus usually has a playthrough condition, and the playthrough is the part of the refer code the desk declines to simplify. The reader who reads the bonus page on the platform is the reader who understands the playthrough, and the reader who understands the playthrough is the reader who can decide whether the bonus is worth the deposit.

Reason 05: the play action is the link

The play action on this site is the link, and the link is the only commercial action on this site. The link is the same on every page, and the link does not change based on the reader, the page, or the time of day. The link is the link, and the link is the part of the publication the reader can verify.

The next read

Where to go from this page, in three links

A short read on the three links, because the three links are the part of the publication the reader can use to keep reading.

The usability shelf

The usability shelf is the same three measures for every platform, with notes on what is fast, what is opaque, and what requires support intervention. The shelf is the part of the publication the reader can use to choose a platform, and the choice is the part of the work the desk supports.

The safety room

The safety room covers KYC, the PAN, the cashier, and the withdrawal timeline, in the order most readers meet them. The room is the part of the publication the reader can use to verify the platform's compliance, and the compliance is the part of the work the platform is responsible for.

The about page

The about page names the editorial standards and the second-editor check. The about page is the part of the publication the reader can use to verify the desk, and the verification is the part of the work the desk holds itself to.
