What the app is

The frumzi app is the mobile reading version of the frumzi site. The app carries every page of the reading room, formatted for the phone, with the same chrome, the same content, and the same single, direct play action in the header.

The app is for the reader who wants the rummy field notes on the phone. The app is not a rummy platform. The app does not run live games, does not accept deposits, and does not hold player balances. The app is a reading app, with a single, direct play action.

What the app includes

The app includes every page of the reading room:

  • The rules primer, with the deal, sorting, pure sequence, open joker, drop, and declaration.
  • The format notes for points, pool, deals, 201 and 13-card rummy.
  • The strategy pages, with the five disciplines and the table reads.
  • The reviews, with the usability shelf and the per-platform notes.
  • The safety pages, with the KYC walkthrough and the withdrawal timeline.
  • The responsible play room, with the deposit caps, the time-outs, the self-exclusion, and the helplines.
  • The newsroom, with the rule log and the product updates.

What the app does not include

The app does not include live games. The app does not include a cashier. The app does not include a KYC flow. The app does not include a deposit or withdrawal button. The app is a reading app, and the only commercial action is the single, direct play action in the header.

How to get the app

The app is available on Android and iOS. The reader can download it from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, or use the APK page for the latest version. The download is free, and the app is free of in-app purchases.

What the app does not do with the reader's data

The app does not collect the reader's name, email, phone number, PAN, or bank account details. The app does not run a newsletter, a subscription form, or a comment section. The app is read-only, and the reader's data is the reader's data.

What to read next

The download page has the links to the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, with the latest version. The APK page has the latest APK, for readers who want the app without going through the app store.

The app and the reader

What the app does for the reader, and what it does not

A short read on the app as a reading tool, because the app is a reading tool, and the tool should fit the reader's hand.

What the app does

The app puts the reading room in the reader's pocket. The app is for the reader who is on the train, or in a waiting room, or in the queue at a tournament. The app is for the reader who has a 5-minute window and wants to read a single page, and the app is for the reader who wants to come back to the same page later.

What the app does not do

The app does not run live games. The app does not accept deposits. The app does not hold a player balance. The app is a reading app, and the only commercial action is the single, direct play action in the header. The reader who opens the app expecting a rummy platform will be surprised, and the surprise is intentional.

The app and the offline reading

What the app does when the reader is offline, and why the answer is "yes, the pages still load"

A short read on the app's offline behaviour, because the behaviour is the part of the app the reader should know before they travel.

The pages cache

The app caches the pages the reader has read, and the cache is what the app shows when the reader is offline. The cache is small (about 5 MB for a typical reading session), and the cache is updated when the reader is online.

What the cache covers

The cache covers the text of the pages the reader has read, and the cache does not cover the images. A reader who is offline and reads a cached page will see the text, but the images will not load. The reader who is reading on a flight should expect the text to load and the images to be missing, and the reader should expect the next online session to refresh the cache.

A short list

Five things the app does for the reader, in one paragraph each

A short list, because the list is the part of the app the reader can use.

Feature 01: the reading room in the pocket

The app puts the reading room in the reader's pocket. The reader who reads on the train, or in a waiting room, or in the queue at a tournament, is the reader who has the reading room with them, and the reading room is the part of the app the reader can use.

Feature 02: offline cache

The app caches the pages the reader has read, and the cache is what the app shows when the reader is offline. The cache is the part of the app the reader can use on a flight, and the offline reading is the part of the app the reader can use when the network is not available.

Feature 03: the same chrome on the phone

The app uses the same chrome as the site: the same header, the same drawer, the same footer, the same mobile sticky CTA. The reader who moves from the site to the app is the reader who sees the same publication, and the publication is the part of the app the reader can use without relearning.

Feature 04: the same play action

The app uses the same play action as the site: a single, direct link to the rummy platform's own page, with a single, clear action: PLAY NOW. The reader who follows the play action on the app is the reader who follows the same action on the site, and the action is the part of the app the reader can use without confusion.

Feature 05: the same speed

The app uses the same fonts, the same images, and the same content as the site. The reader who reads on the app is the reader who reads at the same speed, and the speed is the part of the app the reader can use to finish a page in 5 minutes.

A quick reference
Editorial photograph supporting the read

The reading desk, on a single card

A short reference card for the reader who wants the format comparison at a glance, with the three measures the desk uses across every format and every review.

frumzi reading desk

The reading room is a single, direct read for adult rummy players. Three measures on every review (lobby and table finding, cashier and verification, responsible-play controls). Five format notes (points, pool, deals, 13

Editorial photograph supporting the read -card, 201). Three strategy disciplines (pure sequence first, track the open joker, drop when the math is wrong). Two lines that exist outside any platform (the Government of India helpline, the iCare Centre). One play action, in the header, in the mobile drawer, in the mobile sticky bar. The reading desk is the part of the publication the reader can use to read the rummy field with a calm eye.

A third beat

The app is not the verification

The app is not the verification. A reader who installs the app is not a reader who has verified the document. The document verification is the KYC flow at the cashier, and the KYC flow is the same flow on every surface. A reader who skips the KYC is a reader who cannot withdraw.

The app is also not the promo. An app does not enter a promo code; a promo code is a deposit-page feature, and a deposit page is a separate page. A reader who enters a promo code on the app is a reader who has read the wrong page.

For the boundary reading, the app shelf points to the /promo-code/ editorial explanation and the KYC reading on the safety hub.

A second beat

The home-screen app versus the browser tab

The home-screen app and the browser tab are the same platform, and the same platform has the same account, the same wallet, and the same KYC. A reader who logs in on the browser and on the app is a reader who uses the same account on both surfaces. The two surfaces are not two platforms; the two surfaces are one platform with two entry points.

The home-screen app is faster to open, and the browser tab is faster to leave. The two speeds are the part of the platform the reader can verify, and the two speeds are the part of the platform the usability shelf reports.

For the surface reading, the app shelf points to the responsible-play hub and the safety hub. The two hubs carry the stake discipline and the verification discipline.
